Concert durations are approx. 1.5 hours (including one interval) on 30 December; and approx. 1 hour 15 mins on 31 December (without interval)*. Please stay tuned for the traffic arrangement on that day.
For our traditional New Year concert, we usher in 2020 with a joyful and exuberant programme of popular waltzes and polkas from the era when Vienna was the City of Dance, and Johann Strauss its undisputed king. As we anticipate the 250th anniversary year of Beethoven’s birth, we are delighted to present the Asia premiere of The Nine Symphonies of Beethoven, a quick fun preview of all his symphonies in a work by the Dutch composer Louis Andriessen.
* Special Announcement – “A Viennese New Year” on 31 December 2019Due to traffic concerns around Tsim Sha Tsui on 31 December, the intermission of the advertised 31 December 2019 (Tuesday) 8PM performance of “A Viennese New Year” at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall will be eliminated; also, the scheduled programme will be adjusted, so the concert on 31 December 2019 will end early before 9:30PM.
The 30 December 2019 (Monday) performance of the same programme will remain unchanged. Audience members are advised to allow enough travel time to arrive at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre at Tsim Sha Tsui.
