Leaving a legacy and securing the HK Phil’s future
If you have been inspired by the HK Phil, we hope that you will become a Continuo Circle member and consider making a bequest. Your gift will ensure that future generations benefit from your generosity and that the orchestra you know and love will continue to flourish.
What is the Continuo Circle?
The Continuo Circle is a group of individuals who have made, or have indicated that they will make, a bequest to the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
Why do we need bequests?
Bequests are extremely valued by the HK Phil because they provide a solid foundation. Only about 20% of the costs of putting on the concerts you love are covered by our ticket sales, so the HK Phil relies on the generous support of our funders in order to continue to inspire though the finest music making.
Where does the money go?
Bequests will be used in accordance with the donor’s wishes. You may wish to leave a general legacy or to specify support for a particular programme. Your support could enable us to develop our education programmes or explore exciting artistic opportunities for the orchestra.

Making a bequest
A bequest to the HK Phil may take one of two forms:
- Empowering the HK Phil to apply funds received at the Board’s discretion
- Directing the funds towards a particular purpose, such as one of our concerts or education programmes
You can make your gift with cash, stocks and bonds, property or possessions.
A free & simple way to bequeath
The HK Phil has partnered with ForeverGift – a legacy-giving platform supported by practising lawyers in Hong Kong, to provide a free will-writing service to our patrons. By pledging part of your bequest to the HK Phil, you can access an online will-writing platform and receive a legally valid will that reflects your wishes delivered to you, completely free. The process is very simple and straightforward.
