Cui Hongwei
Cui Hongwei completed his Bachelor of Music programme at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 1990 and furthered his studies at the Aspen Music School. In 1995 he obtained his master’s degree from Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University under the teaching of Daniel Benyamini, Richard Ferrin and Donald Melnnes. He has won many prizes in numerous competitions, including First Prize of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music String Competition and First Prize of the Chicago Musical College Concerto Competition twice. Cui was the violist of Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Assistant Principal Violist of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Cui is now the violist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
