Chang Pei-heng
Pei-heng Chang was born in Pingtung City, Taiwan, and has played the double bass since the age of nine. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the National Taiwan Normal University in 2010, and went on to the University of Cincinnati where she obtained her Artist diploma and master’s degree in 2011 with Dr Albert Laszlo. She was a fellow of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra during the 2010/11 season and studied with Jiang Xinlai (then Assistant Principal Double Bass), Andrew Ling (Principal Viola) and John Harding (former Concertmaster). In 2009 she joined the Taiwan Philharmonic, and in the same year gave her first solo recital in Taipei and won the first prize of Taiwan students’ competition. At the University of Cincinnati, she was Principal Double Bass.
Pei-heng has participated in several music festivals and performances, including a music festival in France in 2009 where she studied with Thierry Barbé, principal bass of the Paris National Opera. She also participated in the Asian Youth Orchestra in 2005.
