For one night only, Hong Kong born and talented conductor Perry So takes up the mantle of Lorin Maazel to nurture and encourage Hong Kong’s young musicians. With a donation of more than HK$6.3 million from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the “Jockey Club Keys to Music Education Programme”, Share The Stage with the HK Phil project will continue in the spirit of Maestro Maazel. Selected young local instrumentalists will play along with the HK Phil on stage The Mars & Jupiter from The Planets, under the baton of Perry So, in a public working session. Come and attend the concert to hear what they achieve together on 4 November 2014. Free Admission!

The Planets is a seven-movement orchestral suite by the English composer Gustav Holst. The work calls for large orchestral forces and makes formidable demands upon them. "Mars, the bringer of war" is full of violent and intense rhythms, while "Jupiter, the bringer of jollity" has thrilling and optimistic soul, culminating in a great noble melody, later known as the hymn tune “I Vow to Thee, My Country”.

II. Application Requriement:
• Orchestral Instrumentalist
• ABRSM Grade 7 or above; or equivalent
• Age Maximum 25 (Full Time Hong Kong Students)
• Passionate to be a musician

III. Application Details:
• Choose your instrument (You can only apply on one instrument)
• Download the audition excerpts and practice from here
• Record your audition performance
• Upload your audition video to your YouTube account
• Complete an online application form and submit your YouTube link together.
(Each applicant can supply one YouTube link only)

IV. Notes:
• Successful applicants are required to join the pre-Public Working Session rehearsals and will be duly notified of the details. Absence from these rehearsals may preclude successful applicants from participating in the project
• Successful participants are expected to be well prepared before the rehearsals
• The personal data provided in the video and this form will be used by The HK Phil for processing your application for “Share the Stage” – Public Working Session and will be held for statistic, correspondence and publicity purposes
• The filling of this form is voluntary, but if you do not provide sufficient information, HK Phil may not be able to process your application
• All the applicants’ YouTube links may be posted on our website
• The HK Phil reserves the right to amend the application criteria as deemed necessary
• The HK Phil reserves all rights of final arbitration in case of any dispute.
