Concert Cancellation and Ticket Arrangement: “Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto no. 1” on 24 & 25 April 2020

The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Music Director Jaap van Zweden, our Board of Governors as well as the administration put the health and well-being of our audience, players and staff at the forefront of our priorities. Like most cultural organisations, we have made major adjustments to our regular activities in order to accommodate these exceptional circumstances.

In view of the latest situation of COVID-19, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced on 21 March 2020 that all LCSD cultural and leisure facilities, including the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, will continue to be closed until the end of April.

The advertised performances of “Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto no. 1" at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall on 24 & 25 April 2020, 8pm, have been cancelled. Ticket holders to the cancelled concerts, please submit your preferred ticket arrangement on or before 31 May 2020

Since over 15 performances have recently been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, over 10,000 tickets are caught up in the refund procedure. While we appreciate your understanding and patience during the refund process,  we are doing our best to explore new refund methods to speed up the process. Tchaikovsky’s hugely popular and emotionally gripping Piano Concerto no. 1 is performed in this concert by a pianist about whose performance The Times wrote: “Behzod Abduraimov tackles Tchaikovsky’s familiar notes with exemplary aplomb”. Experience his masterly interpretation in a concert which also includes a symphony which remained hidden from view for a quarter of a century, and a work in which Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks set out to convey “how beautiful and harmonious the world is’’.
