Jaap | Rachmaninov 2
(Original Title: Jaap | Beethoven 7)
SWIRE MAESTRO SERIES
Programme
Following the premiere of Raymond Yiu’s Old Bei with the HK Phil in 2021, Jaap van Zweden conducts another HK Phil commission by the Hong Kong composer - a Violin Concerto that pays homage to the tumultuous life and prolific legacy of the great Chinese violinist, Ma Sicong. The work was especially written for soloist Esther Yoo, who wowed Hong Kong audiences as a young prodigy in 2013. The concert’s second half features Rachmaninov’s Second Symphony, a work cherished for its tender romanticism and enduring popularity.
The concert runs approximately 1 hours 45 minutes with an intermission.
Please note latecomers will miss the whole concerto, and the audience is advised to allow enough time for admission.
Change of ProgrammeThe concert “Swire Maestro Series: Jaap | Beethoven 7” at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall on 14 & 15 Feb 2025 has been retitled to “Swire Maestro Series: Jaap | Rachmaninov 2”.
