As part of its 50th anniversary celebration, the HK Phil and Music Director Jaap van Zweden will embark on an eight-city European tour with the first French pianist to win the International Tchaikovsky Competition, Alexandre Kantorow. Hailed as the “young tsar of the piano” (Classica), Kantorow plays Rachmaninov’s Paganini Rhapsody in this pre-tour concert. Jaap conducts the First Symphony of Brahms and Shostakovich’s Ninth Symphony.
The concert runs approximately 2 hours with an intermission.
