Programme

MOZARTThe Magic Flute Overture
MOZARTPiano Concerto no. 23
MOZARTSymphony no. 39

Let the genius of Mozart lighten your heart and soul in this shimmering all-Mozart programme. You’ll be drawn into Mozart’s fanciful imagination with The Magic Flute Overture, and thrilled by the drama of the majestic Symphony no. 39. Renowned Israeli pianist Inon Barnatan, the first and current Artist-in-Association of the New York Philharmonic (“a complete artist: a wonderful pianist, a probing intellect, passionately committed” Alan Gilbert, Music Director of the New York Philharmonic), plays a sunny, most lyrical masterpiece from Mozart’s Viennese period.

Change of conductor notice for 23 & 24 June programme

Maestro Jaap van Zweden has withdrawn from our concerts on 23 & 24 June 2017 for family reasons. The two concerts will be conducted by David Stern, whose extensive repertoire ranges from period-instrument performances through to contemporary opera. Previously Music Director of Israeli Opera and Switzerland’s St Gallen Symphony Orchestra & Opera, Stern has conducted leading orchestras in Asia, Europe and the USA, including the Shanghai and Vienna Symphony orchestras as well as Boston Lyric Opera. The soloist and the programme will remain unchanged. We take this opportunity to thank our public for their understanding. Kindly contact our ticketing office at 2721 2332 or cs@hkphil.org for ticketing enquiries.
