Violinist Li Chuanyun is one of Hong Kong’s favorite soloists whose spontaneous musicianship makes every performance a unique and exciting event. The great Czech conductor Jirí Belohlávek introduces the distinctive sounds of his countryman Leos Janácek in the lively and colourful suite from his highly imaginative opera set in a forest and featuring animal as well as human characters. Tchaikovsky’s tragic symphony is the final, passionate outburst of one of music’s most emotional and eloquent composers.
