The Los Angeles Times recently wrote of Hilary Hahn's performance of Brahms's Violin Concerto: "Technically immaculate, musically magisterial and in every moment communicative, this reading reinstated not only the work's status as one of Brahms?masterpieces, but also as one long unbroken song." In Dvořák's Symphony No.8, Czech folk dances comfortably rub shoulders with lyrical melodies, producing one of his most carefree and uplifting works.
SWIRE CLASSIC INSIGHTS - In 2006/07 the Hong Kong Philharmonic is introducing a series of free pre-concert talks from 7:15pm to 7:45pm prior to every concert in the Swire Maestro Series. Classic Insights will take place in the level 4 foyer of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Talks on Friday evenings will be conducted in English and those on Saturday evenings will be in Cantonese.
