Dresden Concert

Experience a captivating blend of lyricism and drama with Jaap van Zweden. In the HK Phil commissioned work Asterismal Dance by Daniel Lo, distinctive musical materials traverse the different instrumental sections of the orchestra non-linearly, like the scattered stars in the sky. The delicate passages and elegant melodies in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no. 4 showcase Alexandre Kantorow’s mastery in keyboard. In Symphony no. 9, Shostakovich skilfully develops seemingly simple ideas into complex textures, culminating in an energetic and cheerful ending.
