Charlie Chaplin - City Lights
SWIRE DENIM SERIES
Programme
CHAPLINKid Auto Races at Venice (1914)
CHAPLINCity Lights (1931)
Celebrating 125 years since the birth of Charlie Chaplin, and 100 years since he created his iconic character The Tramp, the HK Phil will present two Chaplin films. Chaplin directed and starred, and also composed the music for City Lights, in which the tramp finds his way in the big city. Kid Auto Races at Venice shows that Chaplin invented the ‘photobomb’, hilariously obstructing cameramen left right and centre at a race day. Touching, funny and iconic, Charlie Chaplin lights up the screen.
