Lanzhou Concert Hall Choir
Lanzhou Concert Hall Choir was established in May, 2017. It is the first professional choir in the history of Gansu Province. The Choir has 70 signed actors that are all outstanding undergraduates, master graduates of Vocal Music Major from domestic or provincial colleges and Conservatory of Music. At the beginning of its establishment, the choir has received the concern and support from Chinese Musicians Association and all sectors of society, and received unanimous praise from the audience. The choir invited Dr. Chen Bing, professor of the Conducting Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, young conductor and Opera Art Director, to be the Music Director. Mr. Wang Chuanyue, professor of Vocal Voice & Opera Department of Central Conservatory of Music, National Class-A Actor and doctoral supervisor, is specially invited as Vocal Music Director.
Since its establishment, the Choir has successful performed the concert version of opera Cavalleria Rusticana, and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony Ode to Joy, also the Stage Version Opera Turandot, Carmen, La Traviata and La Bohème. The choir has been invited to many important performances: the original opera Flying to the Moon which created by the Central Conservatory of China; “Love Brings Us Together - a Date with Master Benefit Concert” at the National Grand Theatre on the World AIDS Day in 2018; the special programme of the Spread of Classical Chants II of CCTV - The 23th May Music Festival Opening Ceremony Return to Yan’an and Sing Classics Together; Chinese Symphony Orchestra Music Season 2018-2019 and Concert to Commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Yellow River Cantata; Hangzhou International Music Festival Closing Concert and Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra 2018-2019 Music Season Concert Mahler’s Symphony no. 8; the Music and Dance “Epic Fighting! Chinese People” to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China; the Praise to the Six Patriarch composed and conducted by famous composer Li Haiying; the famous composer and conductor Tan Dun's work Buddha Passion for the Closing Concert of the 2020 Shanghai Summer Music Festival; Mahler’s Symphony no. 2 for the opening concert of 2020-2021 season of Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra; Fauré's Requiem for Shanghai Symphony Orchestra 2020-2021 Season Concert; the large-scale song & symphonic cycle Song For Hero composed by the famous composer Ye Xiaogang for the 17th China (Shenzhen) Cultural Fair art Festival; the symphony chorus suite Song For Nan Liang which lyrics by Qu Yuan, composed by Zhang Qianyi; 24th BMF Grand Opening Symphonic-Choral Concert “Under the Brilliant Sun”; the tour of symphony Kūkai by conductor Yu Long and composer Zou Ye; DG Records worldwide release and world premiere of the oratorio Emigre!,which is co-commissioned by renowned conductor Long Yu, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and New York Philharmonic Orchestra, composed by composer AAron Zigman and libretto by playwright Mark Campbell.
The Choir has been collaborated with many Chinese famous conductors, such as Yu Long, Chen Xieyang, Zhang Guoyong,Tan Lihua, Yu Feng, Zhang Yi, Li Xincao, Yang Yang, Xia Xiaotang, Lin Daye, Zhu Man, Chen Bing, Jin Gang, Jing Huan, Jiao Yang, Huang Yi, Zhang Lu, Yu Ji, Gui Junjie etc., and also collaborated with many Chinese famous singers: Wei Song, Mo Hualun, Yao Hong, Liao Changyong, Wang Wei, Zhang Liping, Sun Xiuwei, Huang Ying, Guo Sen, Shi Yijie, Wang Chuanyue, Han Peng, Li Shuang, Shen Yang, Zhu Huiling, Xue Haoyin, Liu Songhu, Zhou Zhengzhong, Wang Yunpeng, Li Jingjing, Wang Hongyao and Wu Hongni etc.. Through a number of cooperation, the Choir has created and performed many China and foreign outstanding works.
