Frances Yip is celebrating 55 years as a recording artist in 2024. To mark the occasion, WOW Music has released a new special collection CD entitled “葉麗儀金曲邁向55” (Frances Yip Golden Hits to mark 55 years).


Frances’ career has evolved from the swinging sixties throughout the disco revolution and on to “adult contemporary”.
Her signature tune, “Shanghai Beach”, which is the theme song from a television series of the same name made in 1980 has possibly been the best-known Cantonese song for more than four decades among Chinese in communities all over the world.


Frances’ linguistic skills, with unique interpretations of lyrics in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, as well as several other Asian languages, has led to a fan base across a wide range of cultures and countries.


She has performed in over 30 countries across five continents, in concerts and on television.  She has recorded over 100 albums, participated in three feature films and appeared in stage musicals.


She has worked with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, the Macao Chinese Orchestra, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, the Youth Orchestra from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Thammasat University Symphony Orchestra in Bangkok, as well as large orchestras in Kuala Lumpur.
