David Pomfret
David M. Pomfret is Professor of History and Chair of the Department of History at The University of Hong Kong. His most recent book, Youth and Empire: Trans-colonial Childhoods in British and French Asia (Stanford University Press) won the prestigious Grace Abbott Book Prize (2017). The author or editor of another four books, Prof Pomfret is also a winner of the Dyos Prize (Cambridge) and HKU’s Outstanding Young Researcher Prize. Beyond research, he has also won recognition for teaching, receiving Hong Kong’s highest award, the UGC Teaching Excellence Award, as well as HKU’s own Teaching Excellence Award. He is currently completing two book projects including A Cultural History of Youth in the Age of Empire (Bloomsbury) and another focusing on the trans-imperial mobility of youth in colonial Asia. He is also involved in projects exploring new ways of applying film, video games and other technologies to the teaching of History.
