Barnaby Palmer

Since 2002, Barnaby Palmer has been Artistic Director of San Francisco Lyric Opera, whom he has conducted in over 35 new productions. He also conducts the Budapest Festival Orchestra, and regularly appears in numerous European tours. He recently made his debut with Les Musiciens du Louvre and conducted the Orquestra Simfonica de Barcelona in January. In July, he will lead the Bohemian Opera in the World Premiere of Ratz of Wicked City by Richard Walsh.
Born in Hong Kong and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Barnaby attended the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy for High School, Cleveland Institute of Music for his undergraduate degree and University of Michigan for graduate studies. He has studied with such renowned conductors as Alan Gilbert, currently Music Director of the New York Philharmonic, and Rossen Milanov, Music Director of the Princeton Symphony Orchestra.
