Experience profound depths of emotion and introspection as two generations of composers explore the expressive power of the string quartet. Immerse yourself in Beethoven's intricate and intense String Quartet in C-sharp minor, op. 131, Beethoven’s personal favourite quartet and regarded as one of his late masterpieces. In a captivating juxtaposition, HK Phil musicians present Hong Kong composer Elliot Leung’s inaugural String Quartet, a five-movement work that likewise traverses a wide range of emotions. Don’t miss this evening that bridges the past and present, as HK Phil players delve into the timeless beauty of Beethoven's musical legacy and celebrate the innovative spirit of Elliot Leung's creative prowess.
The concert runs for 70 minutes without intermission.
