SHOSTAKOVICHSymphony no. 11, The Year 1905
Young firebrand conductor Case Scaglione joins us direct from the New York Philharmonic, to conduct Shostakovich’s Symphony no. 11. A tribute to the Russian Revolution of 1905, this powerful symphony is a tour de force for orchestra. In the first half, as part of Le French May, we present virtuoso pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, performing Mozart’s Paradis concerto – a work which is thought to have been composed for Paris audiences.
