The HK Phil and dancers from Hong Kong Ballet (HKB) will dazzle in excerpts from two works – Fauré’s hauntingly beautiful Pelléas et Mélisande, and Mozart’s ebullient and engergetic Eine kleine Nachtmusik. Hong Kong-born pianist Chiyan Wong, praised by Gramophone for his “dazzling virtuosity” and “sincerity of purpose”, will perform Ravel’s iconic Piano Concerto, a work influenced by jazz and Basque folk music. Making his HK Phil debut, Austrian conductor Christoph Koncz opens the concert with Beethoven’s dramatic Leonore Overture no. 3, followed by Liszt’s symphonic poem Les preludes.
The concert runs approximately 75 minutes without an intermission.
