Shirley Choi
Born in China and educated in the UK and the United States, Shirley is a versatile song writer and musician. With a whole host of composition styles to her name including, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Metal and Classical she clearly has conquered all genres of music.

At the age of 4, Shirley started piano lessons and won numerous awards in England. From a young age she was fascinated with J.S. Bach 's Fugues and counterpoints. This fascination led her to pursue a bachelors degree (BBA and BA) in music from the University of San Diego, USA. Armed also with an MBA from Pepperdine University, where she received a "Distinguished Alumni" award and a Graduate certificate in the Stanford Business Executive Program, she was ready for whatever life was about to throw at her.

Her musical career started when she won the "Mrs. Evelyn Douglass Bowl" for Piano Sonata Class (under 16) in England. In college, she performed with the orchestra in the "rhythm" and "Harp" sessions and played with various Chinese ensemble groups, such as the Kutsang player. Shirley hopes her music and lyrics can reach people's hearts and souls. Shirley writes about love, the environment, responsibility for other human beings, courage and politics.

In the age of digital technology, she has chosen to be a pioneer, as she does not 'sell' her music, everything can be downloaded for free.

Shirley, is also an accomplished bassist. Her all girl band, So What's first single "War Monkey" spent 5 weeks a top the Hong Kong Indie Music Chart. War Monkey was also chosen for a local movie "FOG" directed by a highly acclaimed British/Chinese. In July 08, she performed her own song "Under the Blue Sky" on Chinese Central Television (with over 1.3 billion viewers worldwide). In Nov 08, Shirley became the first female bassist to perform at the Chinese National Indoor Stadium (also known as the Olympic stadium)

Shirley's song " 風的期待" (Hope) won 2nd runner up at CASH (Composers and authors society of Hong Kong) song writing competition hosted by Hong Kong's number one TV station TVB in 2009. The program was broadcasted worldwide in over 30 countries. To further expand her musical horizons, Shirley has now added symphonic composer to her credits, as she is preparing to perform her work, "Happy Diamond" with the Chinese National Orchestra.

Aside from classical music, Shirley is currently working with OSCAR winning producer Sven Ebeling for a film scoring project. In the past decade, Shirley has been interviewed by Hong Kong Broadcast Television, Hong Kong Cable TV, China's CCTV, South China Morning Post, Hong Kong commercial radio, RTHK and numerous other press organisations in Hong Kong, USA and England.

On top of all things musical, she is quite the entrepreneur, with boutique guitar bags, xpowershop.com, a hip and cool girls accessories line, coolthree.com and mybigwave.com, bags and gear for the active male. Shirley has demonstrated from early on that she has an ear for music, and eye for talent and the right mind for business. We're sure to hear great things from her now and in the future.
