Jing Huan
Jing Huan currently serves as the Permanent Conductor of China National Symphony Orchestra, the Music Director of Guangzhou Symphony Youth Orchestra, and Board member of the China Musicians Association. Jing was previously the Permanent Conductor of Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and the board member of Jeunesses Musicales International. In August 2022, she joined with other 9 talented conductors in the National Prime Young Conductors Concert, an important event co-organised by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and China Musicians Association. And Jing was also selected as one of the "Top Ten Young Conductors in China".
Jing graduated from Central Conservatory of Music of China as an outstanding student of Professor Xu Xin, one of China's top conductors and music education specialist. She obtained her Master's Degree in Orchestral Conducting in 2009 at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of conductor Mark Gibson, and was awarded a full scholarship to continue her doctoral studies. She had worked as Conductor Assistant of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and the orchestra of the CSO's May Festival. During the same period, she was also Assistant Conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of the Artaria Chamber Orchestra, Assistant Conductor of the São Paulo State Symphony, and Assistant Conductor at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy.
In June 2012, Jing was one of two winners at the First Li Delun National Conducting Competition held in Qingdao, China. During the same year, she participated in the Campos do Jordão International Festival in São Paulo, where her outstanding performance led to an invitation by Maestra Marin Alsop to serve as Assistant Conductor of the São Paulo State Symphony's 2013 music season. In late 2023, Jing and her work with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra attracted the attention of Maestro Yu Long, which led to her appointment at the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra initially as Resident Conductor in 2014, then Principal Conductor. Jing has worked with many renowned artists including Yo-Yo Ma, Lang Lang, Rudolf Buchbinder, Vadim Repin, Maxim Vengerov, Gil Shaham, Midori, Robert Blocker, Noah Bendix-Balgley, Jian Wang, Lu Siqing, Li-Wei Qin, Zhang Haochen, Chen Sa, Hui He, Warren Mok, Liao Changyong, Ning Liang and Huang Ying.
Since 2014, Jing has served as the Music Director of Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO), the orchestra has made significant progress under her dedicated training, gaining widespread recognition. Since January 2017, she has served as the Secretary-General of the Artistic Committee of Youth Music Culture Guangdong (YMCG) and conducted the opening concert of previous years, receiving praise from YMCG Artistic Committee Chairman Yu Long, Artistic Director Yo-Yo Ma, expert team and the audiences. Jing Huan has led Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra on performances and exchanges in countries including Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, France, Czech Republic, Spain, Switzerland, Hungary, Singapore and Japan among others, performing at renowned venues and festivals including Tokyo Suntory Hall, Hungarian State Opera House, China National Centre for the Performing Arts, Switzerland Verbier Festival, Young Euro Classic, Italy Musica Riva Festival, and Madrid Veranos de la Villa. Highlights of recent seasons include: In July 2017, conducting at the 20th Anniversary Concert of Hong Kong's Return to China; leading GYSO's Japan tour in July 2019, performing at Tokyo Suntory Hall and Fukuoka Symphony Hall for the 40th anniversary of Guangzhou-Fukuoka twin city relationship; in July 2023, celebrating the 50th anniversary of China-Spain diplomatic relationship, leading GYSO on a European tour with special concerts in Valencia and Barcelona of Spain, while also being invited to the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, becoming the first Chinese orchestra invited to perform in the festival's 30-year history, with the performance recorded and globally live streaming by Medici.tv; in late 2023, conducting a symphony orchestra of 180 young musicians from Hong Kong, Macao, and Guangzhou at the opening ceremony of the "Bay Area Music Festival" and the establishment ceremony of the Greater Bay Area Youth Symphony Orchestra Alliance; in July 2024, celebrating the 75th anniversary of China-Hungary diplomatic relationship with concerts at the Hungarian State Opera House and China National Centre for the Performing Arts.
In 2024, Jing Huan conducted a concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of China-Venezuela diplomatic relationship. In September, she conducted the opening ceremony of the National Art Troupe Performance Season, premiering the new work Eastern Sunrise. At the end of September, she conducted a concert at the Great Hall of the People celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
