Esther Pierweijer
Dutch mezzosoprano Esther Pierweijer graduated with distinction from the Conservatory of Music in Enschede, Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Cologne (Germany) with a bachelor and masters degree. She won prizes during several contests, including a first prize at Stichting Jong Muziektalent Nederland, Euregio Vocalisten Concours and a second prize at the competition For Modern Music in Weimar, Germany. She sang in several operas and worked with directors like Jaap van Zweden, Kenneth Montgomery, Alexander Vakoulsky and Nicolai Alexeev. She regularly performs as a soloist in concerts, oratorios and chamber music with renowned Dutch orchestras.
She also performed Canto General, by the late Dutch composer Peter Schat, together with the famous Dutch violinist Janine Jansen. In 2011 the Dutch Wagner Association rewarded her with the Wagner Stipendium which made her a special guest at the Bayreuthfestival in Germany. From thereon she performed the works of Wagner, Mahler en Strauss (a.o.) throughout the Netherlands with pianist Abigail Richards.
Esther is deeply honored to perform at the Hong Kong Cultural Center Concert hall with the Hong Kong Philharmonic.
