Mrs Janice Choi, BBS, MH, JP, Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres
Janice Choi started her piano at the age of six and her vocal lessons when she was an undergraduate. Her vocal teachers include Chiu Shao-chiu, Rosaline Pi and Ella Kiang. She has been coached by Yu Mei-lai, the Dulcimer Principal of Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra.
In 2002, she was appointed by the Government to the General Committee of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Society Limited as member for four consecutive years and also acted as honorary legal advisor mainly involved in its re-organisation, after which she was elected to and had served the new Board of Governors as a member and also chaired its Fundraising Committee. After a year’s break following seven years extended services as Board member, she was re-elected again to the Board resuming her chairmanship of the Fundraising Committee. She has been Vice-chairman of the Society since 2014 and is the most long serving member of the Board.
She is a founder and has served for 7 years the Board of Opera Hong Kong of which tenor Warren Mok is Artistic Director, and founded with others and has become Chairman of the Musicus Society, of which cellist Trey Lee is Artistic Director.
Janice Choi has been a practicing solicitor admitted to the Supreme Court of Hong Kong since 1982. She is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales, as an advocate in Singapore and as a barrister in Victoria, Australia. She has been a China Attesting Officer appointed by the PRC government since 1993. Janice is Advisor and Legal Director of Sunwah Group and Consultant of Angela Ho and Associates.
