Andrew Foster-Williams studied at, and is now a Fellow of, the Royal Academy of Music. He made his US opera debut as Leone in Handel Tamerlano with Placido Domingo at Washington National Opera, prompting the following Washington Post review: "Andrew Foster-Williams was a delightful surprise, nearly stealing the show with his brilliant Act II aria".

Operatically, Andrew sings Leporello Don Giovanni and Albert in Massenet‘s Werther for Washington National Opera; his first Four Villains in Offenbach Les Contes D’Hoffman in Moscow and his first Don Pizarro in Fidelio for Opera North; Nick Shadow The Rake’s Progress Opera National de Lorraine; Nardo in Mozart La Finta Giardiniera Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Paris and Barbican, London; Ismenor in Rameau Dardanus with Emmanuelle Haïm at the Opera de Lille; Zebul Jephtha for Opera National de Bordeaux; and Fenice in Deidamia at Netherlands Opera.
Recent opera appearances have included singing Sleep, Winter, Corydon and Hymen in Purcell The Fairy Queen at the 2009 Glyndebourne Festival with William Christie; Zebul Jephtha with Ivor Bolton and Borée Les Boréades with Emmanuelle Haïm at the Opera National du Rhin; Cold Genius, Aeolus and Comus in a new Mark Morris production of Purcell King Arthur for English National Opera and in San Francisco; Il Conte Le Nozze di Figaro at the Beaune Festival; Publio La Clemenza di Tito for ENO; Leone Tamerlano for Washington National Opera; Alidoro La Cenerentola for Welsh National Opera; Nick Shadow The Rake’s Progress with Basel Chamber Orchestra; Larkens La Fanciulla del West at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and Golaud Pelléas et Mélisande for Independent Opera, London.
Andrew has also sung Leporello Don Giovanni, Colline La Bohème, Plutone Orfeo and a dramatised version of Schubert Winterreise for Opera North; Alidoro La Cenerentola, Don Fernando Fidelio, Voice of Neptune Idomeneo and Sprecher Die Zauberflöte for Glyndebourne; Garibaldo Rodelinda, Melisso Alcina and Argante Rinaldo at the Göttingen Handel Festival.
On the concert platform Andrew has sung Die Jahreszeiten with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and Paul McCreesh; Mendelssohn Elijah with DSO Berlin under Andrew Manze; Christus St Matthew Passion with Sir Roger Norrington and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment; Creation with the Hallé Orchestra and Mark Elder and also with the Gabrieli Consort; Handel L’Allegro with William Christie and Les Arts Florissants at the Proms and on a European tour and a Messiah tour and recording with the Britten Sinfonia and Stephen Layton.
He has regularly appeared at the Mostly Mozart Festival in London and made his debut at the New York Mostly Mozart Festival in 2005 in L' Allegro with Nicholas McGegan. Other recent US concert appearances have included Haydn Nelson Mass with Franz Welser Möst and the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra; Beethoven Symphony No 9 with Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Andreas Delfs and the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra in San Francisco; Handel Messiah with Les Violons du Roi at Carnegie Hall New York, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
